Does your main bedroom become a bit of a dumping ground? It should be a place of calm and peace; a haven to which you can escape after a long, hard day. Very often though, as in my case, it becomes the place where things get left, piled and abandoned. In a family home, it’s often a space that the whole family share, particularly when the children are younger, and so it fills up with laundry, paperwork, toys, shopping purchases, clutter and just ‘stuff’. Would you love to be able to clear the clutter, and find a home for all those bits that hang around for weeks? Well, what you need is some clever storage ideas, and it just so happens, we have exactly that.
Decorative Storage Solutions:
Gone are the days when storage solutions meant boring cardboard boxes stuffed on top of wardrobes. Check out the high street and online stores and you will find a plethora of gorgeous, stylish storage ideas that will blend and co-ordinate with your decor perfectly. They are also a great way to add some extra colour, pattern or print to your bedroom too, and an easy way to change the look of it when you’re ready.
Creative Jewellery Storage :
It’s probable one of the hardest elements of the bedroom to find great storage for. There are lots of standard jewellery boxes and stands of course, but why not make a feature of your jewellery, and try a little upcycling too. Take an old, pretty frame and attach bars from old wood, bang in a lots of tacks or nails, and hang in your room. Use it as wall art, and clever storage for your favourite necklaces and bracelets.
One of the main things to consider, when you’re devising your storage system, is that you need good labelling. Creating a solution that works for you is really important; if it’s too time consuming you may not continue with it, and if it’s too basic it may not do the job properly. Remember that, in the case of shoes for example, you need to be able to either see the contents of the box easily, or have a good labelling system that can be updated regularly, so you can verify the contents of the storage. I wish I had the space for a shoe storage system like the one above.
Under Bed Storage:
Scour the internet and hunt through your favourite auction websites to find attractive, yet practical under bed storage. Using up dead space like this is the best way to gain maximum storage benefit from your bedroom. Upcycling or repurposing cases like this has become very popular in the last few years, so they can be hard or expensive to come by. But don’t they look great? And you don’t have to hide them under your bed either. They make great bedside tables, or can act like a traditional ottoman. Stack on top of wardrobes, or in the corner of the room and show them off if you want to.
So, what do you think of our smart bedroom storage ideas? Do you think you could use any of these? Or maybe you have some great ideas of your own that you’d love to share with us. We would love to hear from you.
