While the kitchen is often referred to as the heart of the home, the dining room could perhaps be thought of as the brains. It’s where we gather as a family to share the stories of our day and to discuss our future plans, a place where we break bread […]
Although having an unlimited budget to dress up our dining room may sound appealing, the truth is, there are ways to get the look you love even when saving money. We spoke recently about the trend of comparison in our digital world and how we may wish for those beautiful […]
The tree, the presents, all the decorations, the food…nearly all is planned and maybe even ready for the big day. Possibly all that’s left is the table and it shouldn’t be an after-thought. After all, the table plays a major role on Christmas day. It’s the place where we welcome […]
Which room is the “most important” one at Christmas? The kitchen because that’s where the feast is being cooked? The living room because that’s where the tree is? Or maybe the dining room because, after all, that is the room where we are most likely to gather with our family, […]
I’ve been thinking a lot about my dining room lately. I adore the dark blue colour but I’ve had a bit of a niggling thought about changing it. Thing is, while many other people can decorate their home and call it ‘done’, my home is constantly a work in progress! […]
If you are big lover of the eclectic style like I am, you may wonder how designers manage to take a variety of styles and mix them together to create the perfect blend of seemingly disparate items. I find looking at inspiring images and really picking apart why things work to understand better how to successfully do this in my own home.
I know. I just used the C word. But with only 6 weeks to go until Christmas, it’s time to start thinking about what we have to do to our home to prepare for the celebrations. If you have family and friends visiting for lunch, an overnight stay, for parties […]
The other day I was doing some research into living rooms and their main components. Well, it is important for me to get these details right when styling a shoot as it could all go wrong if a component is missing. Anyway, I swiftly got sidetracked by the different styles and interpretations of the term dining room and thought it might be a nice idea to simply share some of the rooms I found. Surely, I can’t be the only person to get inspired and finds it interesting to snoop around some fabulous interiors?
In case you hadn’t heard, the industrial trend isn’t going anywhere any time soon. It looks like it’s here to stay for some time yet. Having of course been around for a little while, it has become a firm favourite with designers and stylists alike. Like a lot of trends, this one could easily dismissed as a fleeting bit of fun. However, this is more than just a trend to buy into and then discard.
I have to admit, I do love a good pineapple motif in my interiors. While jumping on every trend bandwagon isn’t a particularly good look for your home (who wants to change their interiors every time there’s a new trend?) and not particularly good for the wallet (who has the money to do that?), this one actually has gone back hundreds of years, dating back to Renaissance Europe.
How about a fascinating little history lesson whilst perusing some gorgeous pineapple-inspired interiors? Oh, go on then…
