Colourful Winter Bedroom Inspiration

Sure, it may be cold outside, the sky may be grey and the light dull but that doesn’t mean your bedroom has to be. If you think you can’t use some bold colour in your home this time of year, then you’ll be happy to know that this can’t be further from the truth.

In fact, winter is a great time to get a little braver and add some much-needed colour into your bedroom’s scheme. It can be as easy as adding a few accessories or as bold as adding a lick of paint to the walls but giving your space a splash of colour may be just what’s needed to get you out of the winter blues!

Moody Florals

Why not embrace the dark with a rich deep paint colour on the walls and winter floral bedding to lift your bedroom scheme? Dark colours can be the perfect backdrop to bright shades in the winter time, creating a lovely cocoon effect.

Be sure to layer various textures including a silky throw and velvet cushions to make your bedroom a bold and cosy space that’s still bursting with bright hues.

Add Sunshine

My own bedroom above may be another example of a dark winter bedroom with lots of neutral tones but all of them are lifted with the addition of a sunshine-yellow headboard in velvet. Don’t underestimate this trendy shade for giving a neutral winter space a splash of warmth.

One bright hue amongst a sea of more subtle shades gives this pale pink space room a focal point so consider adding a bold yellow cushion as seen above. This shade would work equally well translated to bright saffron curtains or a rug with mustard hues to create a little warmth in your winter scheme.

Create Warmth with Accessories

In the above example, we see a simple white bedroom with a warm and cosy twist. Autumn and Winter shades of rust, mustard and berry combine to give this bedroom a cosy and textural vibe.

Now is the time of year to start layering your bedding with additional throws or cushions in soft shades and textures. Choose accent colours that visually warm you up and invite you to get cosy.

Winter Whites

If bold hues feel jarring in your home, you can add colour with more muted tones such as pale blues, warm taupes and shades of grey. This cosy winter bedroom is the perfect example of adding just a touch of colour to warm up a space whilst still keeping a bright and airy look that relaxes.

And finally, for those brave souls who aren’t afraid to go all out when it comes to colour, consider a feature wall in a bright shade that’s sure to cheer you out of any winter funk. Shades of aqua layered on the bed are tempered with a splash of orange in the seating and rug and pull the whole colour scheme together.
