Soulful Sage™ is a soft green with subtle grey undertones that shifts with natural light throughout the day.

Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director at Dulux, describes the shade’s restorative appeal:

“There’s something wonderfully uplifting about green. It’s the colour we instinctively associate with nature, new growth, and the feeling of taking a deep breath outdoors. Soulful Sage™ captures that feeling beautifully; its soft, silvery quality brings a sense of lightness while retaining a reassuring connection to the natural world.”

This connection to organic elements makes Soulful Sage™ an exceptionally adaptable choice across multiple interior surfaces, from expansive feature walls to hand-painted accessories.

How to style Soulful Sage™ across your home

Soulful Sage™ integrates effortlessly with other colour palettes such as earthy clays and rich chocolates for a stronger contrast, soft neutrals and quiet blues for a lighter approach, and playful ochres and dusky pinks to uplift the look.

Discover a few ideas on how you can apply and coordinate this soft green across your walls, furniture, and accessories.

1. Wall applications

To transform your space, consider how paint interacts with architectural detail and lighting. Painting all four walls in Soulful Sage™ creates an enveloping, sanctuary-like atmosphere.

For a dynamic focal point, paint a single feature wall and contrast it against deep, grounding tones such as chocolate or cherry.

In modern open-plan layouts, use this sage tone to create geometric arches (such as recessed shelving nooks) or define functional zones like reading corners, dining areas, and home office spaces.

2. Wooden furniture

To balance green surfaces, pair sage walls or cabinetry with natural wooden finishes. Solid oak introduces rich, organic grain that grounds the muted green hues and adds natural warmth to the room.

In dining spaces, complement sage walls with natural wood dining sets, such as the Oakee dining table paired with the wishbone-style Lars chairs. The light, honeyed tones of the wood bring an airy, Scandinavian feel to your dining area.

3. Fabrics, upholstery & layering

Quick styling tips for decorating with green

Test swatches in different lights: Green undertones shift noticeably between morning daylight and warm evening lamp light, so test large paint swatches on walls and against wooden finishes before committing.

Layer natural textures: Combine painted surfaces with natural wood, woven wool rugs, linen fabrics, and indoor plants to accentuate the shade’s organic feel.

Start small with accents: If full green walls feel like a big commitment, introduce Soulful Sage™ gradually through botanical wall art prints, scatter cushions, painted skirtings, or behind open shelving units.
