It’s finally happened, it’s grey and cold outside and time to put on those woolly socks that are lurking at the bottom of a drawer. Keeping warm will now be in our thoughts more often than not and iced drinks need (mostly) replacing with something a little hotter. Whether that’s a big mug of steaming tea, a sweet hot chocolate or something a little boozier, there’s nothing better than a warming drink after a day of wind and rain. Here are some of our seasonal favourites.<\/p>\n

The classic choice on a cold wet day, whatever your age. Go for the ultimate indulgence and top your drink with cream and marshmallows or make it more grown-up by using dark cocoa power and spices such as vanilla, cinnamon, anise and cloves. Try using different milk alternatives such as oat or coconut for a deliciously creamy yet dairy-free treat.<\/p>\n

Start your day with a steaming mug of tea. Whether you love a classic builders’ brew or a fruity herbal number, there are so many different teas to choose from. In autumn, flavours like spiced apple and cinnamon are a natural choice to warm you up on chilly days.<\/p>\n

Nothing heralds the start of autumn more so than the arrival of pumpkin spice lattes. The seasonal drink is hugely popular, especially as most coffees shops only offer them for a short spell, so you need to get your fix while you can! If you want to recreate them at home and give your morning coffee a twist, treat yourself to a bottle of pumpkin spice syrup, with other seasonal flavours including gingerbread and cinnamon.<\/p>\n

If you want to take your hot drink game up a notch, add a dash of booze and make yourself an Irish coffee for an evening treat. Made with coffee, whisky, sugar and whipped cream, the deliciously indulgent drink is a true winter warmer. Here’s a recipe<\/a> if you want to try it at home.<\/p>\n

And finally, what could be more fitting for the cold time of the year than mulled wine? You can buy some ready made ones, but there’s nothing quite like making your own. With some added orange juice, cloves, nutmeg and brown sugar, this is guaranteed to not only warm you up but get you into the (if I dare mention it) festive spirit a little early.<\/p>\n
