With the arrival of Spring comes the itch to decorate and update the home. The longer, brighter days give us more energy, inclination and inspiration to get on with long overdue projects, and add some colour and vibrancy back into our interiors. So, with all that in mind, I’ve put together some of my favourite best buys for this time of year to help you in your endeavours.
#1 Add Some Greenery
Greenery is the name of Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2017 but if this particular shade isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of green around this year, and this Spring in particular, so start introducing it into your home. More than anything else it will invigorate the space, bringing it to life after the long, dark winter months.
One of the new big trends for 2017 is the use of terracotta, both the colour and the material in our homes and interiors. So why not take this opportunity to update your lights with something a little more urban. These fabulous terracotta lights are from Dowsing and Reynolds, one of my favourite lighting brands, and would look wonderful over a dining table or kitchen breakfast bar. Hand crafted in Spain, these terracotta light shades called SPONGE UP were designed by Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte of POTT (The Pottery project)
#3 Go Floral
Whilst you don’t have to embrace the floral trend completely, I would definitely recommend hunting out some key floral pieces and bring them into your home this spring. The bedroom in particular is a great place to do this, if florals aren’t necessarily for you and you want start small. Changing up the bedding or the blinds and introducing a softer monochrome floral is one way to keep this look feeling more edgy than saccharine.
#4 Wall Makeover
One of my favourite mini makeovers has to be the feature wall. No I know many designers are saying that the feature wall is ‘so last year’ but it’s our home right, so if like me, you still love the feature wall, I say go for it. Currently I am all over the tropical trend (again this year) and very much love the new Mind The Gap collection over at Lime Lace. The one above, Rainforest, would look stunning as a feature wall don’t you agree? Or if you’re feeling brave, decorate your complete downstairs loo in this pattern.
#5 Afaw Rug
Why not treat yourself to a new rug now that the muddy footprints are finished, well hopefully anyway. This one from La Redoute is one of the most popular rugs out there on the internet, and even has its own Instagram account. I’m quite tempted myself. Being simple and straightforward in colours, it lends itself perfectly to any room, either living, dining or bedroom, feels soft underfoot and won’t set you back too much either. Could this work for you?
So, what are you buying for your home this Spring? Will you be making any changes to your décor? We’d love to hear from you so do let us know.
