Indian Furniture

If you’re looking to create a rich, bold and distinctive décor we highly recommend taking a look at our wide selection of Indian furniture. Handmade by skilled craftsmen, each of our Indian furniture ranges are made from solid mango wood. This traditional Indian hardwood is stronger than acacia wood and is renowned for its beautiful variegated grain patterns, which are brought to life by our craftsmen who finish each piece with natural beeswax.

For those looking to create a modern yet rustic ambience, our Mantis Light Solid Mango furniture range and Baku Light Mango Wood collection are ideal. Similar to traditional Sheesham furniture, both ranges feature a natural waxed finish, which allows the wonderful grain colours to take centre stage. Less ornate than Jali furniture, our Indian furniture is designed to complement a variety of interior settings; from urban apartments to classic country homes.

We’re currently offering huge savings on Indian furniture in our mango furniture sale; save up to 50% on mango wood sideboards, mango wood dining room tables and mango wood beds while stocks last.

History of Indian Furniture

The popularity of Indian furniture first came to prominence during the 18th century through the introduction of a European influence. Both regions began to work together and export ideas and designs which started the development of Indian furniture fused with a European touch; this enabled the traditional designs to be adapted and brought to a more mainstream audience. Indian furniture traditionally displays the exceptional skill of the cabinet maker which whilst making each piece of their furniture more unique, it does makes the furniture a lot more difficult to produce on a large scale.

Today British designers work closely with the traditional Indian artisans to find the perfect balance in order to create stunning mango furniture that is appealing and authentic whilst being readily available to a larger market – which is how our ranges such as the Mantis light and Baku light have been developed and have become some of our most popular ranges.

Mango Wood Furniture

Mango wood is a traditional Indian hardwood that has similar properties to Oak, making it an excellent alternative material for furniture-makers. Sourced from the same trees that produce the popular fruit, mango wood has a unique finish with a natural grain that benefits from mixed hues - making for a more rustic and individual wood. Perfect in both a contemporary and classic setting, browse our full selection of Indian ranges and discover the delight of mango furniture.
