10 Paint Projects You Can Tackle This Weekend

There’s nothing quite as transformative and instantly gratifying as changing the look of something with paint. So roll up your sleeves because today I’m going to be sharing 10 different paint projects that you can do in a single weekend!

You don’t need too much by way of your supplies but some paint brushes or rollers, a tin of paint, something to protect your surfaces is usually all you need. All in, it shouldn’t take you more than a few hours. However, each of these projects are slightly different and there are tutorials linked to many of them so check out the full posts for more instructions!

Project #1: Paint a Rug

Project #2: Paint the chair legs on a stool

Project #3: Paint a plant pot

Last year, I pulled together 10 different plant pot ideas, including this fun hot pink pot from Best Friends for Frosting. Let your creativity run wild and give your plants some pizazz with a painted pot!

Project #4: Paint the insides of your kitchen cupboards

If you don’t fancy painting the faces of your cupboards then why not give the insides a lick of paint? I love the surprise of bold colour here and how dishes pop off that great background!

Project #5: Spray paint leftover wine bottles in gold or copper

If you find yourself with empty bottles, why not reuse them as bud vases by spraying the outsides in a gold or copper metallic spray paint? They’ll look gorgeous grouped together for an informal display on your table.

Project #6: Paint some rocks!

You can use them as paper weights, as a colourful addition to a terranium or planter or you can display them on your fridge by attaching magnets to the bottom. Check out the tutorial by Alisa Burke here.

Project #7: Paint some cushion covers

You may recall this image from my round up post of 8 Cushion Covers You Can Create This Weekend – it’s back again because it’s a great example of using paint to change up some plain cushion covers and give your sofa a little makeover with a simple change of accessories. Check out Burlap and Lace’s tutorial here.

Project #8: Paint a canvas

DIY Abstract Art

You may not be the next Picasso but creating abstract art can be a fun and exciting way to get in touch with your creative side! I adore this canvas art and Julia from Cuckoo 4 Design shows you how to create it too.

So will you be picking up a paintbrush this weekend? What will you be trying your hand at? I’d love to hear from you!
